Translator

Translate text between 13 languages with automatic language detection and a binding company and project glossary.

The Translator is Kasimir's tool for precise text translation right in your browser — GDPR-compliant, running on the same AI model that powers chat. You paste a text on the left, choose source and target language, and the translation appears on the right, building up live word by word. A glossary lets you define how specific terms must be translated across your company or a project — so Hausmeister always becomes Caretaker and never Janitor.

You'll find the Translator in the left sidebar under Übersetzer (Translator, language icon) or directly at /translate.

What the Translator does

  • Translation between 13 languages plus automatic detection of the source language

  • Live output: the translation streams in piece by piece

  • Glossary support: company-wide and project-specific terms are applied as binding rules

  • Swap languages and re-translate in the other direction with one click

  • Copy to clipboard with a single click

Translating step by step

The Translator: source text on the left, the live translation on the right.
  1. Open Übersetzer (Translator) in the sidebar.

  2. Above the left field, choose the source language. The default is Automatisch erkennen (auto-detect) — Kasimir then identifies the language for you.

  3. Above the right field, choose the target language. It defaults to the other of the two interface languages (so with a German interface, Englisch/English).

  4. Type or paste your text into the Quelltext (source) field. A counter at the bottom right tracks the character count.

  5. Click Übersetzen (Translate). The translation appears on the right under Übersetzung and builds up live.

  6. If needed, click Kopieren (Copy) to put the result on your clipboard (the button briefly switches to Kopiert/Copied).

ℹ️

While translating, the button shows and is disabled. The result field is display-only — line breaks and paragraphs from the source text are preserved.

Swapping languages

The swap button (double-arrow icon to the left of Übersetzung) reverses the direction. If a translation is already in the right field, it automatically moves to the left into the source field so you can translate back immediately. The swap button is locked while a translation is running.

The glossary — binding terms

The glossary keeps your domain vocabulary consistent. Stored terms are applied as binding rules in every matching translation (matching is case-insensitive).

In the top right of the Translator, the Glossar selector controls which glossary applies:

  • Nur firmenweit (Company-wide only) — only the company-wide entries apply.

  • A project name — the project's terms apply in addition to the company-wide entries.

The Bearbeiten (Edit) link jumps straight into the matching glossary editor: for Nur firmenweit into the Verwaltung (Administration) area under Übersetzer-Glossar, and for a project into that project's glossary tab.

Glossary editor: maintain binding terms as a translation pair or a definition.

Entry types

In the glossary editor you switch between two types at the top:

  • Übersetzung (Translation) — a fixed term mapping for a language pair. You pick a Quelle (source) and Ziel (target) language, enter the Begriff (term) and its Übersetzung (translation), and can optionally add a Notiz (note). The beide Richtungen (both directions) option makes the mapping apply in reverse too, without needing a second entry.

  • Begriff (Term) — a pure definition (a term plus a Beschreibung/description). The Translator itself does not use these definitions — they give the AI assistants in chat context about your terminology.

💡

Only Übersetzung-type entries whose language pair matches the current translation direction count for the actual translation (with both directions, the reverse pair counts too). When the source is set to auto-detect, all entries with the matching target language apply.

Who can edit what?

  • Company-wide glossary: only Owner and Admin roles can create, change or delete entries. Everyone else can only view them.

  • Project glossary: every member of the project may maintain that project's terms.

Entries can be edited inline (Bearbeiten) or deleted (Löschen, with a confirmation prompt) directly in the list.

Limits and notes

⚠️

Each translation is limited to a maximum of 10,000 characters. Longer text is rejected — split it into sections in that case.

  • Source and target language must be different, otherwise translation is blocked.

  • There is a limit of 30 translations per minute per person.

  • The Translator only processes pasted text — there is no file or document upload.

  • Translations are not saved and don't appear in any history; use Kopieren to keep the result.

  • Translation runs on your company's first active chat model, so quality matches the language model used in chat.
